Discover the beauty of Vilamendhoo Thila, a stunning and lesser-known dive site in South Ari Atoll, just a short distance from Vilamendhoo Island Resort. This submerged pinnacle is full of life, offering vibrant coral formations, fascinating marine encounters, and a relaxed diving experience for both intermediate and advanced divers.

The top of the thila sits at around 8–12 metres, where hard corals and beautiful table corals create a colourful reef, with anemones providing a home for playful clownfish. As the reef slopes down to 25–30 metres, soft corals, sea fans, and sponges add even more colour and texture to the underwater landscape.

The surrounding waters are alive with fusiliers, snappers, anthias, triggerfish, and bannerfish. Keep an eye out in the blue for schools of jackfish, tuna, grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and graceful eagle rays. For those who enjoy looking a little closer, the reef also offers plenty of fascinating macro life waiting to be discovered.

Depending on the season and conditions, lucky divers may even encounter manta rays, while whale sharks are sometimes spotted along the nearby outer reef.
